Tswelopele Clean-up Campaign: Launch - Saturday, 2 June 2018
The Executive Mayor launched the Operation Tswelopele programme in July 2017 to revitalise the inner city core and the various Inner City Urban Management Precincts. This programme started in the Marabastad area and moved to the inner city core area.
The Capital City Business Chamber (CCBC) recently took the initiative of revitalizing the Clean-up campaign by involving the Business Sector to become important Role players in ensuring the sustainability of the Tswelopele Project. The Clean-up campaign will be launched on Saturday, 2 June 2018 by the Executive Mayor and will be based on the following practical arrangements/programme:
08 30: Role Players meet at Tshwane House for a Media Briefing on the Project
All volunteers will be issued with gloves and two plastic bags – Black bag: Non-recyclables (Sponsored by Standard Bank) and Yellow Bag for recyclables (sponsored by Plastics SA)
Cleaning will commence in the area as per mapping below
The Waste Group will assist with the collection of bags as part of their Sponsorship
Businesses are requested to participate in a structured manner by considering an Adopt a Street approach, By so doing, businesses in a specific street/area will be taking hands by ensuring their area to be cleaned on a daily basis
The Tswelopele Clean-up will be repeated monthly on the first Saturday of every month
The intent is to create a culture of cleanliness/recycling and having the campaign rolled-out throughout all seven Regions of the City of Tshwane
Businesses will be recognised as active participants and will be offered various marketing/branding opportunities – for more information, contact the CCBC at 012 542 1308.
